Naked Lunch Thesis Statement

Shifting from a peaceful to a terrifying lunch in "Naked Lunch", Michael Hollinger uses extreme characterization, sarcastic irony, and intense imagery in order to display to the reader that no one should let their significant other, or ex-significant other, tell them how to live their life.

  1. I think the universal idea could be more encompassing if you broaden it a little. Your adjective-device pairings are pretty strong, though.

  2. I like your acknowledgement of the shift. It's very pretty. And good. I noticed that once the piece got to the part where the universal idea was stated, the tone gets to be a bit conversational. I suggest, perhaps, that maybe you might say something like "to confirm that the independence of an individual should not be encroached upon..." I don't know. Yeah. Strong otherwise, nice work.

  3. Overall I believe your thesis is really good and well written, but I feel like you could have used a better adjective than extreme to describe the characterization, other than that, good job!
